Hello lovelies, so glad you stopped by!
I’m Kat Ross, your hostess for this leg of the hunt. I write young adult historical fantasy and gaslamp paranormal mysteries with a dash of monsters and magic.
I have a kid and four cats and like to work next to a giant map of 18th century London and Post-it notes that say things like “stop whining and write.” You can check out all my books here.

Today I’m hosting Cecily Wolfe!
Cecily writes whatever her characters tell her to write, including YA, contemporary family drama and romance, and inspirational historical romance. A native of Akron, Ohio, she graduated from Kent State University with degrees in English and library science, and enjoys her career as a librarian in Cleveland.
That Night by Cecily Wolfe
Cecily’s featured book is called That Night. You can also find her on her website, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Drug overdoses don’t happen to girls with good grades and athletic prowess, with longtime friends and a devoted boyfriend. Or do they?
When high school seniors Cassidy and Sarah, along with Kayla’s boyfriend Paul, discover their best friend Kayla unconscious at a party, the idea that they have lost her to a heroin overdose is unbelievable. She didn’t use drugs, except the pain medicine prescribed for a soccer injury, and she had no reason to accept any from a stranger. The month that follows her death is filled with anxiety, sadness, frustration, and questions. Answers won’t bring Kayla back, however, so as Cass and Sarah struggle with the insensitive but predictable behavior of parents, classmates, and teachers, Paul falls into a depression that leads him down a dangerous path. With Kayla’s younger sister Mia in mind, the three of them work towards forging ahead without the girl who has held them together since elementary school.

Cecily put together some really cool fancasting collages of the lead characters and details about them, enjoy:
Kayla (Danielle Campbell)
Athletic, smart, and beautiful, Kayla is everything any girl could want to be. Only her friends and boyfriend know about her secret struggles, the pressures she faces from teammates, her coach, and her parents. She and her little sister Mia are very close, and her friends rally to support Mia after Kayla’s death.
Cassidy (Joey King)
Family secrets and parental pressure have made Cass feel like an outsider in her own home, but she has been best friends with Kayla and Sarah since elementary school and can always count on them to have her back. Losing Kayla leads her to an awareness of a problem in their community that has gone unrecognized until now.
Sarah (India Eisley)
Quiet and thoughtful, Sarah has been the voice of reason in the trio of friends, but Kayla’s death brings out a fierce determination to protect her friend’s reputation, leading her to take physical action to stop rumors that would harm Kayla’s sister as well as Kayla’s memory.
