Logan Ragsdale and his younger sister, Ariana, have been marked, chosen to be unwilling participants in a war between angels and demons.
Logan can sense something's not quite right. Like an unexpected chill on a summer's day, he can feel the unseen closing in. He's had these feelings before and, each time, someone close to him died. He's afraid this time it might just be Ariana.
Logan's fears are soon confirmed when he discovers their new friends aren't human, but rather representatives from Heaven and Hell sent to Earth to ensure he and Ariana accept their roles in an ancient prophecy. Demons want Logan to open the gates of Hell. Ariana has the power to stop them, but if she chooses to side with Heaven to spare the lives of thousands of innocent people, she'll damn her brother for eternity.
Together, they must derail the biblical event if they hope to save themselves and the future of mankind...but what price are they willing to pay to keep the other safe?

I was reading a great post by Heather L. Reid about her PRETTY DARK NOTHING cover and it got me thinking how warm and fuzzy it is when a cover goes right, but what about when it goes wrong? Horribly, eyeball-searingly wrong? Pause for a moment and imagine all the people it had to get through to reach publication: the designer, the editors and marketing team, the author, the agent… And every one of them was like, Yeah. I'm good with that.
I know there's already a million compilations out there, but they really never get old. Let's review some of the greatest hits, shall we?
This one is taken from WTFbadromancecovers, and reminds me of Julian Assange if he got all jacked up for a barbarian movie. (I highly recommend WTF, if only for hosting Objectified Scotsman Thursdays. Lots of kilts, or lack thereof!)
And one more from WTF, which is just a treasure trove of cover horrors. The chest fur looks like it came from the Wooly Willy magnetic hair game.
You have to love this Brazilian cover of THE SHINING, though. I totally forgot about the Joan Collins/Linda Evans catfight by the hedge maze in Chapter Six.
There's the desperately need a spellchecker...
And the painfully literal...
And the adorably inexplicable...
But honestly, better to have such a stupendously weird and/or horrendous cover that it lives on for the amusement of the Internet than to have something merely mediocre that fades away without a trace, yes?
Or maybe not.
